Deadlocked

I have been at a deadlock in my research now for the past month or so. While it is natural to realize just how little you really know about something the more you learn about it (or try to), I think I am just having a bad research season. Not sure which game(s) to focus on next, which research direction to take, adrift alone in a sea of numbers, NP-Hard problems, algorithms and other things that cannot be used to conduct the type of research that I am trying to do. I am equally sick of -isms. Post-modernism, post-structuralism, deconstructionism, and their ilk. Do I really need these things to understand games? Did I ever?
