Zagal: "Best in class may not be best for class"
April 10, 2013
Professor Jose Zagal raised a valid, if not sobering point recently that oftentimes students in Game Design courses are far too attached to the subject matter to be able to turn a sufficiently-critical eye toward it. This is somewhat akin to a religious zealot who, blinded by a cocktail of faith and unconditional love, may fail to see their own religion critically. After a fashion. Sort of. In any event, I would like to give the heads up that one such game for me, entitled "Another World" ("Out of this World" in the US release) is currently on sale on Steam for only $9.99 USD. I believe that it would be only through great effort I would be able to properly critique this game, as it does reside in a zone of my preferences that is far too subjective to prod with a stick of logic. In other news, I just started playing this minor game called "Skyrim" or something like that. Coincidentally, I have thrown away any remaining sliver of free time I had, even if only in theory.
